Steph Clarke

17th September 1980 – 25th November 2016

We’d love you to join us as we celebrate Steph’s life

Thursday 22nd December, 2016

Steph’s funeral will take place in her home town of Wednesfield, Wolverhampton on Thursday 22nd December.

There will be a Church service, followed by a Crematorium service, then tea and cake back at the Church – please buy or bake a cake to share!

We are planning a large celebration event in 2017, so if you are unable to make the funeral don’t worry as there will be another opportunity to get together & celebrate Steph – more details will be announced soon.

St Thomas Church

Church Service – 11:45am

The service to celebrate Steph’s life will begin at 12:30pm, however you are invited to arrive from 11:45am to write memories, messages and stories on luggage tags (similar to those used on our wedding invites) and place them on a remembrance tree inside the Church.

We would like everyone to wear something red as this was one of Steph’s favourite colours; it was the colour she chose for her wedding theme and we think it reflects how bright and vibrant she was!

We would also encourage you to wear odd socks as this was something Steph loved to do and she took great joy in deliberately dressing Jordan in odd socks to annoy her slightly OCD Mom!

Bushbury Crematorium

Crematorium Service – 2:15pm

The Crematorium service will follow the Church service at 2:15pm.

The West Chapel at Bushbury holds approx 200 people, so we would ask that family and close friends are given priority to attend, however everyone is welcome. Those not travelling to the crematorium can stay at the Church and enjoy refreshments until we return.

The journey time is around 10-15 mins by car, so please leave enough time to travel.

Once the service at the crematorium has finished, we will return to St Thomas’ Church and the St Thomas Centre (directly opposite) for tea and cakes – please buy or bake a cake to share!

Instead of bringing flowers or donating money we’d love you to do ‘Stuff 4 Steph’.

We’d like you to find a local cause that means something to you and support it. You could give money, but the most valuable thing you can donate is your time, so why not do something in Steph’s name?

Any act, big or small can make a difference…grasp every opportunity to do good.

It could be random acts of kindness, community spirited acts of goodness, time giving, volunteering, photographing beauty. Or it could be something as simple as holding a door, or smiling at someone in the street.

We think she’d love this.

If you’d like to share whatever it is you do, simply add the hashtag #stuff4steph to your Facebook posts, Tweets, Instagram photos etc. so people can find them.

If I tried to show every side of you through words of a song

I’d say a fraction of what I’d intend

‘Cause if you’re telling a story, at some point you stop

But stories don’t end

We’re planting trees in a corner of our land early next year and there’ll be a young Oak Tree with Steph’s name on it as a growing memorial to a wonderful community volunteer.

This is a touching way to celebrate the life of truly beautiful person and what mattered to her.
I’ve been finding life busy and hard to enjoy recently, but doing #stuffforsteph will make the hard stuff easier and it’ll turn my frown upside down.

#Stuff4Steph is a wonderful way to celebrate Steph’s life.
Being around Steph always made me feel I should be stepping-up and getting on with the important things in a happy, enthusiastic way. Stuff4Steph will be a way of passing this sense onto others and getting some lovely stuff done at the same time.
Thank You Steph and James Xx

We met briefly, but you had an energy that cannot be forgotten.
So passionate about life and people.
One of the most bubbly energetic, honest and open people it has been my privilege to meet.
You truly are a star that shines bright.
Glow red like the sun our Steph!
    For ever in our thoughts.

Such a wonderful idea, we will definitely do some #stuff4steph here at YMCA Black Country Group. Although we hadn’t known Steph for very long, she was such an inspiring, thoughtful and kind person and she will be greatly missed. She has certainly left her mark with us here.

A wonderful way to celebrate the life of a wonderful woman. The night we met was a cold winters night but Steph’s smile helped every person stranded in w, ton.
Whenever I saw Steph after that night on the bus walking round Wednesfield wherever it she always had time for a chat and we both laughed so much bout that cold night In town.

This is such a lovely idea. Incredible Edible Dunstable will definitely be doing #stuff4steph. Lots of love

My first #stuff4Steph is to ask if anyone who doesn’t have a car and wouldn’t otherwise be easily able to attend needs a lift. I’m in Willenhall, so this is for anyone near me and/or Wednesfield people. James will (I think!) vouch that I’m safe to accept a lift from and can put anyone needing a lift in contact with me.

I’ve known Steph since she was at school with my daughter. Lively, slightly ott sometimes, fun, big personality and always kind when kindness was most needed. Love the idea of ‘stuff for Steph’ and every time I smile at someone it will be for Steph.

How wonderful, an incredibly fitting tribute to Steph. I really hope she knew how many lives she touched and how many people she inspired

#stuff4steph told a homeless man we would be back in a man with some cash for him. I don’t think he believed us. But the shop we were going to was closing. Went back and gave him some money, and stopped a while to say how sorry we were that he was in that situation, but he said he was doing alright. He said it was people like us who helped him get through.. (About to sleep rough in Hanley) I couldn’t tell him where we had been earlier, but I said well it had been quite a day….This was yesterday after your funeral Steph. Incidentally he said if he had a pound for everyone who said they would give him money on the way back, in a min.. etc. Not us friends of Steph! For you Steph x x x

I didn’t know Steph, but I have seen so much of her work in Walsall and beyond in action. Seeing the immense outpouring of love and the sheer celebration of life is an amazing tribute to her, and Penny and James, you have done her proud. Much love for you all.xx
